India sit pretty atop the test rankings after dismantling England in the fourth test of the five-test match series at Mumbai. A whole year of good results have lifted the men in blue to the top of ICC ranking, despite just rebuilding the team under new captain Virat Kohli since January of 2016. Anil Kumble, who took the job of coach before the tour to West Indies, is yet to lose a test match in his post.
India Series result (since 2015 season)
Starting from the last match of the India tour of Australia in January 2015, India have the best winning percentage in Tests. From then to now, they faced challenges in South Africa, New Zealand and England, all at home, but they have managed to overcome them with ease. The only top team they haven’t played in this period is Australia, who would be arriving in India early in 2017.
Pakistan too have had a good run in the past two years, dominating teams despite not playing a single home game. An India, Pakistan would truly be a match-up to look forward too.
Best win% for Teams since 2015
The fourth test of the series against England has taken India’s unbeaten streak to 17 matches equaling the record they set in 1985-87. The stark difference between the two periods is that India have won 75% of their games in these 17 games, while they had only a win percentage 23% between 85-87.
India’s Unbeaten Streaks in tests
A win in the fourth test match means India have clinched the series, the fifth they have won in a row, making it only the second time they have won five series in a row. As far as future tours are concerned, India have Bangladesh visiting for a one-off test match and also the Australians.
With these two home series in the offing, Indian fans would be confident that Kohli and co would be able to stretch their lossless streak.
